PAINT SUMMER FLORALS - in person workshop, Dumfries House

Paint SUMMER FLORALS in one of the most beautiful gardens in Ayrshire! 

SUNDAY 14th JULY
10am-4pm

Immerse in a day of painting the gorgeous blooms, engulfed in the glorious scents of summer in the Walled Garden at Dumfries House.

We'll be mainly painting outside en plein air, although you can choose to work in the 'studio' from photographs and we'll be working in water-based mixed media: watercolours, gouache, inks and using some exciting mark-making tools.

The Walled Garden Pavilion will be our base and we'll start the day off (as we do in DH) with a glass of Bucks Fizz and a chat about the plans for the day. Top up with some tea/coffee and shortbread before heading out into the gardens.

Loosening up firstly in sketchbooks, colour mixing, playing with marks and tools before letting loose onto lovely big sheets of watercolour paper - keeping it fresh & lively - and incorporating some of those exciting marks from our earlier playtime.

There will be plenty of guidance, demos and nifty wee techniques to try throughout the day. This is a day of play and we are inviting happy accidents to join us!

Hopefully the wonderful BORDER OF DELPHINIUMS will still be in bloom - but we won't be short of colour or inspiration!

MATERIALS:
Sketchbook, watercolour paper, gesso included - please bring any water-based paints you enjoy using (watercolour, gouache, inks, drawing materials).
