I always wanted to be a painter when I 'grew up' ... I still do!
I graduated as a graphic designer from Glasgow School of Art in 1993. Having enjoyed a work placement in Good Housekeeping & Cosmopolitan magazines in London, I specialised in magazine design and worked mainly in publishing for the next 11 years.
In 2004 … I chucked the day job and started my own design business and began designing food & gift packaging for a few different British companies. However, the need to paint became too much and in summer of 2000 I picked up a paintbrush for the first time in almost 20 years and haven’t stopped since!
A self-confessed lover of shoes and all things vintage, I paint what I love and these feature in my work … I have been lucky enough in the past few years to have painted shoes for the global brand, Irregular Choice (didn’t get any shoes right enough!) … and was delighted to be offered residencies at Dumfries House over the past 3 years where one of my landscapes is part of Prince Charles’ private collection (perhaps a Dame-hood is next!!).
In March 2016 I finally became a full time artist and am now lucky enough to paint while teaching in my rural studio set in the heart of the glorious Ayrshire countryside with only some local wildlife for company. I particularly love to paint on site so my new location is perfect for creating a new collection of Ayrshire work.
My work is now sold in galleries across Scotland, in Dumfries House and from my own Gallery at Lodgebush. 2019 brings a full programme of workshops, classes & exhibitons throughout Scotland.
